
Jazmine was a Philadelphia native, was born and raised there. Pam Her mother, who has been a backup singer in the past at Philadelphia International Records. In the year she turned 5 old, her father landed a position as a curator for Philadelphia's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family was able to move into the historic landmark. In 2005 she graduated from Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in the class of singer-music major. Sullivan started singing as a contralto children's choirand shortly after, she was a part of the adult choir. Sullivan was never exposed to secular music at the beginning. "When I turned 11 and a half, someone asked to enroll me on one of the gospel records. I wasn't going to take that step," she says. Then, McDonald's held a contest that was open to children living in cities. I was selected to perform "Accept what God allows" on it's Showtime At the Apollo. And the audience was very supportive. At the age 13 she sang along with Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday. Sullivan was 15 when she was signed for the first time to Jive Records. The label recorded her an entire album, but the album wasn't released. Sullivan was then dropped from the label. Missy Elliott was the producer on several songs on Her debut album. Among them "Backstabbers" from Timbaland and Timbaland, which Elliott composed, was one of the biggest hits.
